As everyone is working on race plans, I wanted to let you know that this week we were just given some new safety regulations. This was different than I requested, but I 100% respect what makes the safety regulators feel comfortable.
Wave starts: 1-hour downtime between each wave of runners that goes out. We want the race to be as normal as possible, and will tighten that timeline up if we are allowed.
We will send 100 mile runners out first, then 100k/relay runners. Special start time request will be a difficult a task, but we will make our best effort to accommodate. We will be sending an email out with a form to put in request.
We want everyone to have a great race experience and will work hard to help you get in the wave you want. DNR has asked us to encourage carpooling in groups of 4 runners. We will wait until Monday to send out the request form so you can talk with friends and try and plan carpooling since it will be a question on the form. You will need to answer the request form promptly because we want to work quickly to assign start times.
50k runners will all be able to start all at once. 38 mile fun run is naturally a wave start.
Parking: Nordic will not be allowed to fill to full capacity. This is a COVID-19 safety precaution that will be regulated. Our overflow parking is 10 minutes down the road, with bus shuttles all day and night. John Muir parking lot is not to be used for race parking.
Carpool idea: you can carpool from the overflow lot.
These changes will make our aid stations open longer than in past years. I am sure the groups that host each aid station would welcome an extra hand that allows them to have a quick break or nap. You can sign up to volunteer on our website.
Thank you runners. We are working every day in an effort for a safe race, that is a great race experience for everyone. Race day is a celebration of your training and you deserve the best. We look forward to seeing you.
Aid Station page- we will work to get answers to questions that we feel will be common with these race adjustments put up on the website. For now, I added a few things on the Aid stations page that can help you plan. LINK
